Vilnius ([ˈvʲɪlʲnʲʊs] ( listen); see also other names) is the capital of Lithuania, and its largest city, with a population of 535,091 (809,225 together with Vilnius County) as of 2011.It is located in the southeast of the country. It is the second biggest city of the Baltic states, after Riga.

Ви́льнюс (лит. Vilnius), до 1918 — рус. Ви́льна, в 1919—1939 гг. — Ви́льно, польск. Wilno) — столица и крупнейший город Литвы. Является административным центром Вильнюсского уезда, районного и городского самоуправлений.

Расположен на юго-востоке Литвы, в 33 км от границы с Белоруссией, при впадении реки Вильни в реку Нярис (Вилия). Площадь города — 394 км², население — 538 968 человек.
